BOOM! Studios’ Expands BONE PARISH to 12-Issues

BOOM! Studios has announced that the Cullen Bunn and Jonas Scharf series BONE PARISH has been expanded to a 12-issue series instead of it's original 4-issue series, and that's amazing. According to the press release the response to the series from fans and retailers has been so loud that BOOM! felt that the best response was to give everyone more issues. If you're a fan of Bunn's writing you know that will only provide more indepth storytelling and character development, and if you're a fan of Schraf's art then you're just going to get more of that amazing art each month. This is a win-win for everyone from creating to purchase to reading. I've been curious about this series because I've not been reading a lot of Bunn's work lately. No reason other than I've just been behind on reading everything, but knowing this series is getting more issue has me excited and focused on it.

Here's the original press release:

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 28, 2018) – BOOM! Studios announced today thatBONE PARISH, an all-new addictive necromantic horror series from superstar writer Cullen Bunn (Harrow County, The Unsound) and artist Jonas Scharf (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), has earned a full series order of twelve issues in advance of its debut in comic shops on July 25th due to the overwhelming early response from retailers and fans.

BONE PARISH follows the proliferation of a new drug sweeping through the streets of New Orleans—one made from the ashes of the dead. Wars are being fought over who will control the supply, while the demand only rises. While the warring factions collide, users begin to experience terrifying visions of the dead coming back to life—through them. And at the heart of it, one family must decide how far they’re willing to go to connect – or perhaps disconnect – from the world around them as this dangerous conflict escalates in shocking ways.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the expansion of the BONE PARISH story,” said Cullen Bunn. “I tend to think in terms of longer stories, and I definitely had more of a story to tell with BONE PARISH. The additional issues will not go to waste, I promise, because the intrigues and intricacies of the Winters family deserve to be explored in great detail. The world of BONE PARISH just got darker, more intense, and more haunting than it was before.”

BONE PARISH is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to a world-class group of licensed comic book series and ambitious original series, including Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, WWE, Abbott, Coda, Mech Cadet Yu, Grass Kings, and Klaus.

“This has been a special book for us from day one, and it’s exciting to now have twelve issues to tell the full BONE PARISH story,” said Eric Harburn, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios. “As retailers and some lucky fans have already seen, the first issue of this series creates a world you’ll never want to leave, even as the true horrors unfold and the mysteries of the Winters family are revealed.”

Print copies of BONE PARISH #1, featuring a main cover by Lee Garbett (Skyward) and a variant cover by Rod Reis (Doctor Strange: Damnation), will be available for sale on July 25th, exclusively at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.comto find the nearest one).
